SOCIAL PRESCRIBING: PROFIT FOR PATIENTS & PRACTICES CONFERENCE

2019 sees two major projects underway: a conference for GPs and their teams on 2 October 2019 (fo lowing the July 1st introduction of the new contracts to include Social Prescribing) and a film to introduce a set of self-help teaching aids for practices to use in their internal training sessions.

A much loved and dedicated Duchy Health Charity Trustee, Mary Grigg, sadly passed away on 30th December 2018 after a short illness, leaving behind her devoted husband, Russell, as well as lasting  memories for all of those fortunate to have known her as colleague or friend.

The Trustees are sending their very grateful thanks and sincere condolences to Carol O’Brien, one of our longest and most dedicated Trustees and Member of the Grants Committee, whose husband, Mike, passed away on Thursday, 10th of May 2018, and who asked that the collection from his funeral be presented to the Charity.

Before the Second World War, children born with spina bifida and hydrocephalus were not expected to live much past infancy. Medical advances and new surgical techniques started to change all this. The conditions began gaining more attention in the late 1950s and early 1960s and major treatment centres became established in Sheffield, London, Bristol, New York and Melbourne.
