People experiencing homelessness in Cornwall have been able to receive emergency dental care as Dentaid The Dental Charity brings its services to the Duchy, all thanks to a grant of £20,000 from Duchy Health Charity, with volunteer dentists and dental nurses providing 3 days of mobile dental care in St Austell and Bodmin.
One of the UK’s leading Orchestras, the BSO is passionate about using music to improve mental health.
Since 2019 their Bristol Recovery Orchestra, run in partnership with Bristol Drugs Project, has helped people in participants in their recovery from addiction, and their aim is to roll out this proven model to other locations across the South West.
Which is why Duchy Health Charity awarded a grant of £3,164 in March 2024, to enable them to launch their plans for a Wellbeing Orchestra in Bodmin.
Children’s Sailing Trust (CST) was established in 1997 to provide sailing and water sports lessons to young learners, whatever their financial background or physical or learning abilities.
Without Children’s Sailing Trust, many local children would not be able to access this transformational activity, despite living close to the sea.
Children also gain a greater understanding of the marine environment and outdoor elements after learning to sail. This benefits them in a number of ways, for example, from life skills to qualifications; routes to employment in the marine sector, and academic study.
Duchy Health Charity awarded a grant of over £11,000 to fund the Trust’s 2024 ‘Sailing for All’ programme.
In January 2023 we awarded £20,000 to Trelya to fund their ‘Nerth’ project (Cornish for energy, force, power and strength) to deliver a year long, weekly programme of holistic and engaging activities enabling families impacted by poor mental health to improve their emotional wellbeing.
In July 2022 we awarded a grant of £10,000 to CLEAR Emotional Trauma and Therapy Specialists to help them deliver their mission to reduce the harm caused by abuse, violence and other emotional trauma through 1-1 therapy and counselling for children and adults and prevention and education work in schools and communities across Cornwall.
Dementia is a huge and growing health crisis, with over 900,000 people in the UK suffering with dementia and 52% of carers don’t get sufficient support to enable them to carry out their caring role.
Duchy Health Charity provided £16,000 of grant funding to Dementia UK to support the expansion of their Cornwall Admiral Nurse service.
