The Duchy Health Charity is proud to be associated with Truro & Penwith College in presenting the award for the greatest sustained effort in the Access to Nursing Course.
Here are the words that Cheryl Mewton, Assistant Principal & Director of Studies, said about Nadine:
‘Undertaking an Access Course is never an easy journey, but this student chose to do so after a very long break away from education. Having been out of the classroom for thirty years, Nadine entered her Access Diploma very unsure of her ability. It took a lot of courage for her to step into the classroom on that first day, however, from that day she demonstrated a deep care and commitment to her studies, a determination to succeed and a real passion for working with people and making a difference in their lives.
With personal experience of caring for family members during ill- health and a range of work experience, Nadine had decided that she could put her skills and talents to good use and become an Adult Nurse. She has worked tirelessly towards that goal. It is incredibly impressive that Nadine has achieved her Access Diploma with every single assignment at Level 3 Distinction but more than that she has done this whilst maintaining a positive attitude and always offering support to her peers.
She has a deep well of empathy, care and compassion alongside an incredible work ethic and ability to make a difference to peoples’ lives… with a successful offer from Plymouth University to study Adult Nursing, Nadine will continue to make a real difference to people’s lives.
She will be an exemplary Adult Nurse and we wish her all the very best’…and the Duchy Health Charity echoes that sentiment entirely.
