CLEAR Emotional Trauma and Therapy Specialists Grant award: £10,000 towards a specialist service for adults…
The Plymouth Sports Charity was founded in 2010 with the vision of promoting sports and physical activity for the improvement in health and wellbeing in Plymouth.
They aim to increase participation in sports and physical activities among people of all ages and backgrounds, providing opportunities for disadvantaged and marginalised groups, such as underprivileged youth, individuals with disabilities, and those from low-income backgrounds to foster a healthier and more active lifestyle, and so tackling issues of obesity and health issues related to a sedentary lifestyle.
The charity aims to break down barriers and ensure everyone can benefit from the positive impact of sports on physical, mental, and social wellbeing. They also recognise the power of sport to build stronger communities and enhance social cohesion.
So when the charity approached us for a £5,000 grant to support their ‘Healthy Men, Happy Lives’ project, promoting physical and mental wellbeing among 30 marginalised and at-risk men in East Cornwall, the Grant Committee were in complete agreement.
The main objective of the project is to bring this group of men together on a regular basis to participate in a diverse range of healthy and positive activities, including circuit training, gym sessions, cycling, walking, yoga, and paddle boarding, encouraging an active lifestyle and fostering a sense of community.
On receiving the grant, Dan Pengelly from the charity said:
“Your unwavering support has been instrumental in enabling us to pursue our mission and make a positive impact in our community. The funding that you provided has not only bolstered our programmes but has also allowed us to reach new heights in our efforts to promote better wellbeing to all of our service users.
With your support, we have been able to implement initiatives that directly benefit the individuals and communities we serve. From expanding our programmes to promoting inclusivity and accessibility to better health, your contribution has been a driving force behind our success.
We understand the importance of fostering meaningful partnerships, and Duchy Health Charity has truly been a valuable ally in our shared commitment to creating positive change. Your belief in our vision has inspired us to work harder, dream bigger, and strive for excellence in all that we do.
As we move forward, we are excited about the continued collaboration together and making a lasting impact on the lives of those we serve, creating a healthier, more vibrant community for everyone.
Once again, thank you for your trust, generosity, and belief in our charity. We look forward to keeping you updated on our progress and sharing the positive outcomes made possible by your support.”
